The Los Angeles Independent Film OASIS was organized in 1976 by a group of filmmakers and film critics to screen independent film. In practice the term independent has been liberally construed to include documentaries and theaterical features of special merit that are inaccessible through conventional exhibition channels. Among screening groups Oasis is unique, because programming decisions are made not by a single person but by members of the organization acting as a group. This program was assembled by inviting each film-making member of Oasis to submit one of his or her own films. Notes are by the filmmaker unless otherwise credited.
